1953-1954 Buick Skylark

Picture of Buick SkylarkBuick Skylark introduced 50-year birthday (name previously used for short HUPPE its sports cable for 1939 Skylark-810) was one of the three special convertibles produced in 1953, General Motors, two Oldsmobile Fiesta and Cadillac Eldorado. All three were limited production vehicles promoting design of General Motors' leadership. Of the three, Buick Skylark was the most successful production of 1690 pieces. It was considered a great achievement, since the sale of the car had a list price in 1953 was slightly higher than U.S. $ 5000. But many of these vehicles languished in skylark parts dealer showrooms and eventually sold at a discount.

All 1690 regular-production Buick Skylark built in 1953 (and all in 1954) became convertible. 1953s was based on two-door Road Master Convertible, same dimensions (except height) has almost the same comfort and appearance equipment, train and manage the Road Master. Mercury Cougar name has a variety of cars over the years than "Save the Whale" stickers: drag strip demons, Ford Thunderbird clone, and even vans. Although total sales at Ford fell slightly for '61, Ford Galaxie Sunliner almost repeated his performance in 1960, attracting 44,614 orders.

Ford could be inspired by the European sports cars, but ultimately all-American Boulevardier Thunderbird convertible designed for comfort and a smooth, strong straight-line performance. That "Little Birds" were also exceptionally beautiful, but hastened the production of "instant classic" status, one of the reasons why so many Ford Thunderbird survive today.
