1956 Ford Thunderbird Picture

Picture of 1956 Ford ThunderbirdStill see the two-seater 1956 Ford Thunderbirds on the boulevards in Beverly Hills, which is handy. Ford could be inspired by the European sports cars, but ultimately all-American Boulevardier Thunderbird convertible designed for comfort and a smooth, strong straight-line performance. That "Little Birds" were also exceptionally beautiful, but hastened the production of "instant classic" status, one of the reasons why so many Ford Thunderbird survive today.

Robust steel casing and equipment roll-ups were more attractive Ford Thunderbird virtues. As proof, '55 Chevrolet Corvette outpolled debut fiber to 23.1 at 16,155 units. Slipped '56 to 15,631, but it was bad enough for a special auto fall-back "sales per year.

Typical for the period '56 also offers more power, thanks to the new 312-cubic-inch V-8 packing 215 horsepower with optional stick-overdrive or 225 with self-shift Fordomatic. Last year, 292 went to the standard three-speed manual, but was increased to 202 horses. Dealing with a step back, such as springs and shock eased, but the buyer was the result of a smoother ride.

Picture of 1966 Ford Fairlane 427Ford Fairlane In mid-1960, manufacturers play a game called "snap tiger tail." Hot Pontiac Tempest GTO was the car to beat, and shot everyone in the building and medium-sized cars with tiger stripes and hairy engines. Ford entered the arena in 1966 and 1967 with Ford Fairlane GT and Ford Fairlane GTA. Were hot car - but 1966 fairlane not as hot as they looked. In fact, most of their competitors, a few lengths Tiger.

In any discussion of these cars, it is impossible to distinguish from the rest of the GT package, as only Ford Fairlane with special badges. A Ford Fairlane was a pretty nice cars, especially in the guise 1966-1967.

Picture of 1966 Ford Fairlane 427 Front ViewThe new mid-size Ford Fairlane, built from 1962-1965 in the first generation was a great mother of the compact Falcon and a standard-sized Ford. Her body was unitized blurred by-115, 5 cm wheelbase, as well as in 1954-1956 Fords, and other dimensions to the popular mid-1950 Fords.

Although the 1962 Ford Fairlane is 16.5 inches longer and nearly 500 pounds heavier than the Falcon compact companion, was even smaller 11.7 inches and 800 pounds lighter than "standard format" Ford - which just shows how much Ford has moved from its very successful 1954-1956 package.

Because the big Ford 223-cubic-inch six would not fit in the engine in the new Fairlane's engine bay, Falcon 170-cid six became the standard engine. The old 292 V-8 would not fit, either way, Ford has developed a brand new 221-cubic-inch V-8 and bored-out 260-cid version specifically for Ford Fairlane as an optional engine choice. It was the famous small-block Ford V-8 with the new thin-wall casting technology, making it the lightest V-8 today.
